Good afternoon fellow bloggers and readers. I am proud to announce that my business name is final and registered with BDC. For those of you that had a chance to read my blog yesterday, the first name choice worked out just fine! For those of you who are new to my posts, my business name is Dawn's Delites! The first layer to my foundation is now poured and I am mixing the next application of this wonderful business.
I have been doing some heavy researching for the last 24 hours and let me tell you the ideas are flowing like a broken dam. I have decided to carry a notebook with me where ever I go so nothing gets forgotten. Normally my memory is pretty good, but the amount of information I have taken in over the last week alone has been crazy...I love it! I now feel like I have a purpose. I feel alive again! For the last say, three years, I have been getting the feeling of "boredom" at work. I knew my job like the back of hand (which most females know the back of their hand from looking at their beautiful nails...LOL) and there were no more challenges. Well, let me tell you now, if you are the kind that needs to be challenged to keep in good spirits, try starting a business! I know, I know, it's in the honeymoon phase, but man does it ever feel good to be back in the game! The exciting part for me about all this, is that it will be forever changing. Change makes room for growth and growth usually means money (he he), which we all love. Some people do not adapt well to change, but I do as it keeps me interested and on my toes.
I would like to say that I am forever grateful to my boyfriend Cliff for being extremely supportive. I am very thankful that he too is taking part in the "technicalities" of the business and brainstorming ideas as well. We have been together for just over a year now and I am happier than ever. He has inspired me to try new things and the rewards have been awesome! He will probably not see this so I will leave it at that!
In closing, it is Thursday and looks like another busy weekend as we are having a big dinner on both Friday and Saturday, so a cooking I will do. I will try to post some pictures of the "delites" I may slap together this weekend.
Good night,
Dawnell

Hey there, just following up with a huge sigh. Today was a big day for me. I did it! I sent out my request to Business Development Centre for registering my business. I have now committed!
I was asked to provide three names for them to do a search and make sure the name I want is not already taken (fingers crossed). I am sitting here wondering if I should mention the name or not because I will be very disappointed if I advertise it and it doesn't work out....oh well, what the heck, here it goes......
Dawn's Delites
bumper sticker: ik8er2u (I cater to you)
I was going to go with Sweets n Treats, but it seemed too common and it's probably already taken. I was debating on the spelling too, Delights vs Delites. Hope everything goes good. I will let you know as soon I know the verdict. I am also thinking about a logo at the moment so I can possibly trademark...may need my son's creativity for that one....how exciting!
I am excited and scared all at the same time. I am trying to take small steps, making sure I explore all my options before the launch, but soo much information and ideas are flowing. With that being said, I will be sending out invites for my first forum within the next couple of weeks. I am thinking of breaking it up into four sections.
1. sweets
2. cookies
3. meat & crackers/fruit & veggie (traditional vs elegant)
4. cakes
Each forum will be two to three hours long and be held once per month. I need to perform these forums to gather information about what YOU want and how YOU want it. This is called customer satisfaction. All forums will have anonymous surveys that will hopefully provide me with both positive and negative feedback to better serve you! I know I will never be able to please everyone, but having these statistics will be good for sharing with my future clientele.
The menu for these forums is what I will be working on over the next couple of weeks so you will have to forgive me if I am not posting as much as I would like to be.
Hopefully soon, I will have my website up and running so keep an eye out for that as well.
Well time for me to have more sweet dreams and get a clear head for more brainstorming tomorrow.
Thanks for reading.

Never in a million years did I think I would be starting this amazing journey with a blog.
First and foremost, I must prepare you all for what may start out as babbling and seem like endless words, but I am new at this so please bare with me.
I work full time for a logistics company. Yeah I know right, BORING! I feel like I have worked to the bare bones for someone else to prosper for the last ten years. Ever had that feeling? Well the feeling started for me about 6 years ago. I was in a relationship where work seemed to be the best thing going for me and I plunged all my energy into what I thought was where I suppose do be going....up in the corporate ladder. Can we say DUMB? I can now! After a failed marriage and many serious talks with a very good Life Coach by the name of Shelley Harris (who will some day be famous), I have come to realise that I am worth more than that and owe it to myself to do the best I can with what I know. Now comes the hard part. What do I know (and feel passionate about) that can be utilised every day to satisfy a need and make a profit? Everyone wants to make money right? Everyone wants to live in that beautiful house that we know we can not afford!
Well, from this day forward, I pledge to enlist all my energy in preparing and researching for what I have always wanted to do....own my own business and make money for me!
How am I going to do it? Where do I start? What do I need? Where am I going to get the money? These have been SOME of my many thoughts over the last 3 weeks that I could hardly sleep anymore!
Okay, now that that's out of the way, I have been able to focus somewhat and come up with a need that will earn me a profit and never be just a simple fad.....FOOD! We all need it to survive, but I am not about to go to someones house and cook for them and opening a restaurant is a big risk to start off with, although that is my end goal. So, to start small means.......Catering!
Having 5 years of experience working at Royal St.George's College in the kitchen, serving rich kids from grade 3 to 13 was my starting point. Why did I ever step away from that field? Relocation is the answer. I moved from Toronto to Brampton and have been working in the warehousing industry ever since. Don't get me wrong, I have learnt a lot over the years and I am sure there will be more knowledge coming my way (or at least I hope), but lets face it, it's not me!
I have relocated to a new account recently and do not feel "satisfied" with the daily tasks I am relied upon to perform as a "CSR". This has been my push to start looking into my dreams!
I hope that everyone who knows me well can smile at the successes coming my way and hope that those who don't know me can sit back and read along in my journey called "From this day forward" and say "man, her strength and courage is phenomenal".
We all take risks in life....first house, marriage (sometimes more than one), first child, new job and for some owning a business. No matter how big or small the risk, if you don't take it, how will you know if you will succeed? If it doesn't turn out to be exactly what you intended, think about what you have learnt and pat yourself on the back for trying. Most of todays' failures are from not trying. It is only a failure if you haven't learnt from it!
To close it off for today, I am always looking for name ideas, so feel free to send something catchy that will be easy to remember yet catch the tongue at the same time.
Keep an eye out as well for my invitation for my focus group parties to obtain feedback on the launch. It will be free food sampling....who wouldn't want that?!
